Choosing the right training provider

I wish I knew then, what I know now! You’ll hear that a lot. From inadequate training to misinformation and expensive contracts, the Instructor Training industry is a mess. It pays to work with a company whose background speciality is training and coaching.

With over 25yrs experience providing training programmes for big corporates, to individual executives, we understand how important it is to match the training to the needs of the learner.

What can you expect from us?

You are probably embarking on a change of career or re-entry into the workplace. You’ll almost certainly not be a millionaire, so cost is probably a key factor on choosing your training provider. When choosing us, we will partner you with your own learning manager (LM). Your LM will be there to help you as you progress. They’ll answer questions, signpost you to relevant information and help arrange your training. Support and advice will be tailored to you.

Common Training Pitfalls

Some of the most common complaints PDIs have about training provision.

The Qualification Process

Please login to send your request!
The first qualification step is your Theory Test. This is the first chance to really build your knowledge and understanding of road laws, road signs and vehicle requirements. You will use this knowledge to help your learners become safe and knowledgable drivers.

The Theory Test for Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs), involves answering 100 multiple choice questions and completing 14 hazard perception videos.

The Theory Test

After the Theory Test, it's time to retake your driving test. This is the second step in showing an examiner that you fully understand how to drive safely inline with DVSA standards. As an experienced driver already, you are likely to have bad habits and outdated knowledge, so updating your skills is essential for success.

For your driving test, you will take an almost identical test to your learners. The main difference is that your test will last around 1 hour, include faster roads, include show me/tell me questions and 2 manoeuvres. You must pass with a maximum of 6 driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults.

The Driving Test

The final part of your ADI qualification is to show that you can teach a learner, add value to their knowledge and skills, adapting lessons as the need arises. Whilst doing this, you must be able to ensure that the learner and the environment around you remains safe.

The Part 3 - Teaching Test, lasts around 45mins and requires you to demonstrate the full range of teaching skills and risk management skills during the lessons. Your learner will be around 15-20 hours into their learning journey.
